12th Annual Torch Run Plunge held to benefit Special Olympics R.I.


NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — The 12th Annual Torch Run Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Rhode Island was held in Narragansett this afternoon.

Several hundred individuals, including our own Mike Montecalvo, Tony Petrarca, Yianni Kourakis and Steph Machado, who all took the plunge at noon at Salty Brine Beach.

The event kicked off yesterday afternoon with the Super Plunge where 21 people, including our own Caroline Goggin, braved the cold weather and a sleepless night and dove into the water 24 times in 24 hours.

The Super Plunge and Torch Run Plunge helped raise $200,000 for Special Olympics Rhode Island.
