Steven Matregrano joined 12 News in June 2020 as a digital meteorologist and reporter.
He was born and raised in Norwalk, Connecticut, but vacationed often in Rhode Island as a kid. From Charlestown to Narragansett to Point Judith, summers in Rhode Island were a big part of his life growing up.
Steven received his Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology from Western Connecticut State University (WCSU).
While attending WCSU, Steven worked in the school’s weather center as a student meteorologist where he provided forecasts for several newspapers across Connecticut, as well as the Westerly Sun in Rhode Island. He had the opportunity to intern at WTNH News 8 where he focused on community outreach and worked closely with Storm Team 8. Steven attended the 2015 Travelers Championship during his internship and met many locals and heard their favorite weather stories.
Prior to joining 12 News, Steven worked as the weather producer for Spectrum News NY1 in New York City. He has always loved the big city which is just a train ride away from his hometown but is eager to explore the beauty of the Ocean State.
In addition to weather, Steven enjoys spending time at the beach, discovering new views and places to eat.
If you see Steven around the area, feel free to say hi and tell him your favorite weather story!
