Steph Machado joined the 12 News team in June 2015 as a reporter.
Steph covers politics and the city of Providence for the Target 12 investigative team, holding government officials accountable at the Rhode Island State House and Providence City Hall.
She’s covered stories big and small since arriving at WPRI 12, from the Michelle Carter trial to Donald Trump’s campaign stop in the Ocean State.
Before coming to Rhode Island, Steph worked in Burlington, Vermont, where she was the statehouse reporter for WVNY & WFFF, covering government and elections. The day Bernie Sanders announced he was running for president, she traveled to Washington, D.C., for a sit-down interview with the senator just moments before he announced his run.
Steph grew up in Ashland, Massachusetts. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Spanish.
In her free time, Steph hits the beach, tries new restaurants and binge-watches TV shows. She loves a good book, real Vermont maple syrup, and the Syracuse Orange.
