JP Smollins joined the 12 News team in October 2002 as a sports photographer/reporter.
Prior to his work at 12 News, JP worked at WJAR-TV as an assignment editor and sports producer. He has also worked as a sports reporter/anchor at WNNE in White River Junction, Vermont, an assignment editor and producer at WLNE-TV in Providence, and was a freelance sports reporter/anchor at Media-One (now Comcast).
Born in Worcester, JP attended Stonehill College for undergraduate studies where he majored in English and played football for the Skyhawks. He then went on to Northeastern University where he earned a Masters in Journalism.
