Meteorologist Britney Trumpy joined 12 News in July 2021. Britney can be seen delivering local forecasts weekends on 12 News This Morning and once a week on 12 News at Noon.
From a young age, Britney always loved the snow and watching thunderstorms roll through South Jersey. After Superstorm Sandy hit the Jersey shore, Britney decided she wanted to dedicate her life to meteorology and helping people better prepare for severe weather.
Britney is a member of the American Meteorological Society. She majored in Meteorology at Rutgers University-New Brunswick with a minor in Digital Communications, Information, and Media.
Britney came to WPRI/WNAC from WBTW/WFXB in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she forecast the weather for the weekend broadcasts. While in South Carolina, she covered multiple hurricanes, tornadoes, and river flooding. Before moving to the Carolinas, Britney chased and forecast severe weather including tornadoes, flash flooding, blizzards, and wildfires in the Texas Panhandle for KAMR/KCIT in Amarillo Texas.
Britney was born in Berlin, New Jersey, and now lives in Rhode Island with her two dogs Gurdy and Sadie. In her free time, she loves to read, visit the beach, work out, watch sports, and spend time with her dogs.
