Brandon Truitt joined 12 News as a reporter in May 2019.
Brandon is new to New England as he has lived in North Carolina most of his life.
Raised in the mountains of western North Carolina, Brandon didn’t go far for college. He attended Western Carolina University where he graduated with a double major in broadcast journalism and political science.
After school, Brandon moved to the eastern part of the state for his first job in Greenville, N.C., as a reporter for WNCT.
During his time there, Brandon covered several national stories. One of those included six days on the coast covering Hurricane Florence’s landfall and aftermath. He also provided extensive live coverage on the search and discovery of missing toddler Casey Hathaway.
He earned awards for his work covering North Carolina’s education crisis and was named by RTDNA as the 2018 Reporter of the Year for North and South Carolina.
Brandon is happy to be in the Ocean State and is eager to try the best places for local eats.
