Anita Baffoni joined the 12 News team in August 2018.
She earned a degree in journalism from the University of Rhode Island in 2013. While in college, she interned at the Warwick Beacon, Cranston Herald and Johnston Sunrise newspapers.
Prior to joining the WPRI 12 team, Anita began her career in Rhode Island media as a news reporter for the daily newspaper, the Kent County Daily Times, covering politics and general assignments in West Warwick and Coventry. She then moved into broadcast media, accepting a job at News Talk 630 & 99.7 FM WPRO as a news reporter and fill-in anchor. Anita then worked for a Rhode Island congressman but decided to come back to the news business a short time later and she is thrilled to be back covering stories in her home state.
Anita has deep roots in Rhode Island. She grew up and currently lives in Johnston along with many members of her large Italian family. She is proud of her family’s history in the state, including her involvement with the poultry farm her family continues to own and operate in her hometown for more than 80 years.
In her spare time, Anita enjoys attending shows by local musicians, cooking, and playing with her rescue dog, Phife.
