Earlier this year, Dr. Javier Montañez was named superintendent of Providence Public Schools, putting him in charge of the entire district where he was once a student.
But as someone who was homeless during high school and ended up dropping out – his journey to get here was anything but ordinary.

From going out of his way to connect with students and check on teachers to paying a visit to the park he once called home, Montañez shares with us his day and his inspiring story of perseverance.
