PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Runners getting ready for the Rock 'n' Roll Half-Marathon in Providence this summer are in for a treat.
The Rhode Show learned exclusively that pop duo Karmin will headline the finish line concert on Sunday, August 1
Karmin, consisting of married couple Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan, are best known for their song “ Brokenhearted ,” which is currently in the top 20 of Billboards’ Hot 100 list. They first stepped onto the map as a YouTube sensation with their creative covers of Chris Brown's “ Look at Me Now ” and Nicki Minaj's “ Super Bass ,” among other popular hits.
“Runners have come to know and love Rock ‘n’ Roll races not only for the challenge of the run, but also for the amped up ambiance that’s filled with impressive musical performances,” said Kim Messey, Event Director. “We are pleased to welcome Karmin as our headlining performer. Their Billboard topping hits and fun pop stylings will be the perfect post-race celebration and we’re excited to bring the party back to Providence.”

The race will once again start and finish in downtown Providence near the State Capitol Building on Gaspee Street, and travel past many of Providence’s major landmarks such as the Roger Williams Memorial and the Athenaeum Library. Runners will get a brief tour of three of the city’s major universities, and travel along Swan Point, Blackstone Park and India Point, with scenic views of the Seekonk River.
In addition to the half marathon, participants have a new option this year.
They can split the miles with a friend or family member in the 2-person half-marathon relay, taking on either a 5 or 8 mile leg while enjoying the same perks and race day celebrations.
