CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) - The man wanted for questioning in a suspicious death appeared in court Thursday on separate charges.
James Adams, 31, of Warwick, is a convicted rapist. Cranston Police charged him with felony assault with a dangerous weapon against a woman. They said it happened on June 29.
Adams was arrested at the Charlesgate Apartments in Providence Wednesday, shortly after Cranston Police sent Eyewitness News his picture; wanted for questioning in a suspicious death.
He was on probation after being convicted in 2007 on charges of first degree sexual assault and felony assault on a Warwick woman.
In court Thursday, a prosecutor told the judge that Adams is wanted for questioning in the death of a woman, whose decomposed body was discovered in a garage on Farmington Avenue in Cranston on Friday, July 20. Neighbors had called police about smelling a foul odor.
Officials said the felony assault and suspicious death questioning are two separate incidents.
