'79 tickets for The Who exchange Tues.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - An historic exchange is set to take place Tuesday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, after a concert that never happened over thirty years ago.

Ticket holders who kept their tickets from The Who concert, canceled at the old Providence Civic Center back in 1979, will turn the historic items in and receive a ticket to The Who concert at the Dunk that's now set for February 26, 2013.

The 1979 tickets will be presented to the Rhode Island Special Olympics organization, which is planning to sell the tickets as collector's items to raise funds for the charity.

The exchange is going on at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Dunk's box office.

The top price for a ticket to The Who in 1979 was $14. To buy a ticket for February's concert, tickets start at $57.50, plus $14.60 in fees, according to Ticketmaster.com.

To get the best seats -- a reserved seat in the first three rows and other benefits -- tickets are $625.00, including fees.

The 1979 concert was canceled by then-Mayor Buddy Cianci, over safety concerns after a stampede killed 11 people before a show in Cincinnati.

The Who formed with the four original members, Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and Keith Moon, in 1964 in a suburb of London, England. Only Daltrey and Townshend remain of the original four, and will be on the tour.
