GLOCESTER, R.I. (WPRI) -- A firefighter is facing numerous charges, after Glocester police say he assaulted two officers.
William Cline, 51, was ordered held on $2500 following an appearance in court Tuesday. Cline is a full-time firefighter in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Police said Cline's pickup truck crashed into a bridge on Jackson School House Road just after midnight. According to police, Cline attacked one of the officers that responded to the accident, then fought with another officer during a foot chase.
Police said Cline appeared to be drunk, and he was also charged with driving under the influence.
One of the injured officers was taken to Fatima Hospital. That officer has since been released, and is expected to return to work.
Cline is due back in court in July.
