(WPRI) -- With spring right around the corner, it's a great time to update your wardrobe with this season's hottest spring fashion trends.
People StyleWatch Editor Kristen Maxwell joined The Rhode Show live from New York City to give us a sneak peak.
"We're seeing a turn to the sleeker, chicer spring," says Kristen.
One of the big trends is any black and white pattern. They're seeing it in head-to-toe looks or as a neutral with anything else. Femininity is also big this spring.
"Anything with ruffles will give a feminine feel," said Maxwell. "It can be on tops or skirts. Sheer is also a huge trend."
One of Kristen's must-haves is a little baseball jacket.
"They're a really great alternative to your jean or leather jacket," she said. "It adds a fun, spring twist."
Kristen is also loving metallics.
"It's a fun way to freshen up anything that you own."
She said the easiest way to wear this trend is with accessories, and showed us a new Betsey Johnson tote bag in metallic and silver pumps, from Call It Spring.
This season, you're sure to find something for every personality, body, and budget. Whether you love eye-catching colors and textures, or like a chic ladylike look, Kristen said "it's all about being feminine and fun this spring."
