PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The rain may be to blame for a partially washed out parking lotin Providence.
The scene is in front of Plainfield Auto Sales on PlainfieldStreet.
An Eyewitness News crew on scene said part of the parking lotappeared to be washed out, and two cars are in dangers of fallinginto a hole.
An employee on on scene said a retaining wall collapsed, leadingto part of the parking lot collapsing.
Eyewitness News showed the pictures to private engineer PaulAldinger, who said that appears to be what happened. He said waterbuilt up behind a retaining wall and caused the collapse.
The situation could have been caused by Wednesday's rain storm,which dumped at least two inches of rain on the area.
Another one to two inches of rain is expected Thursday.
