WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) -- West Warwick police have made an arrest in what they're classifying as a home invasion Wednesday night.
The incident happened just before midnight at a home on D'Ambrosca Court. Police tell us three or four males entered the residence, two armed with handguns, and assaulted a man.
The victim has been identified as Raymond Ellinwood. There were other people inside the home at the time, though Ellinwood was the only one assaulted, and he was not seriously hurt.
Police arrested Ellinwood following the incident and he is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
This was the second drug-related arrest in the town within two days, as detectives seized a large amount of marijuana and other drugs from a home on Brookside Avenue Tuesday.
Officers said the incident was not random and the suspects knew the victim.
So far no other arrests have been made, police are asking the public to call if they saw any cars in the area at the time of the crime.
