Pedestrian reportedly struck by car in downtown Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital Friday night after being reportedly struck by a car in downtown Providence.

According to eyewitnesses, the man was hit by a car, possibly a taxi, at about 7 p.m. on Sabin Street.

It's not clear if the man was attending RI Comic Con, which was held Friday at the nearby Convention Center.

No word on the extent of the man's injuries, but eyewitnesses said he was moving around and conscious before he was taken away in an ambulance.

Eyewitness News has calls out to police for more information.
