MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WPRI) -- The grocery-delivery service Instacart announced it will expand its service into the East Bay area.
Instacart is already available in the Providence metropolitan area after expanding into Rhode Island back in 2017.
The service will now be available in the Middletown, Portsmouth, Newport and Jamestown beginning on April 19.
The app allows consumers to order items from stores and have them delivered to their homes. Instacart said groceries can be delivered locally from BJ's Wholesale Club, Shaw's, CVS and Petco.
Instacart shoppers will be able to order their groceries from the company's website and will get them delivered to their home in as little as one hour.
The new service will bring more than 100 jobs to the area. The company said more than 26,000 additional households will soon have access to Instacart in Rhode Island.
