PROVIDENCE, R.I. (FOX Providence) - With the NCAA tournaments taking center stage this weekend at the Dunkin' Donuts Center , Providence College focused on getting the next group of basketball stars ready for the big dance.
Shooting, passing and dribbling may be some of the fundamentals you need to be a good basketball player. But to be a healthy kid, you just need to get up off the couch.
The afternoon clinic was organized by two former PC students who put the focus on basketball fundamentals as well as the dangers of using drugs and alcohol. After the clinic the students were all treated to a surprise right next door at 'The Dunk.'
Not only were the kids happy to have the day out from school, they were excited to learn hands on from the talented instructors.
Along with learning the on court skills, the kids will learn the importance of working together, exercising, and teamwork. Which, as well all know starts with defense.
