AUSTIN (KXAN) - In response to the stimulus plan, an anti-stimulus Web site was created, and the site has ties to Gov. Rick Perry. Texans for Rick Perry created the site, asking supporters to sign a petition declaring they are against the stimulus plan.
The Web site also links people to Perry's campaign Web site. Both Perry and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison will be running against one another for the Texas governor's spot in 2010, and like Perry, Hutchison is also against the stimulus package.
"I cannot support it because of so many of the factors in it that I think are wrong," said Hutchison. "I think the tax cuts are not properly targeted, and I think the spending is too big on nonstimulative areas."
"The best thing they [lawmakers in Washington] could have done for the economy was to stand up and quit spending a lot of money," said Perry.
Besides signing the petition, people can also post their comments on the new Web site.
