New developments in 'Down the Drain'

Target 12 Investigators uncover new details

(WPRI/WNAC) - The Target 12 Investigators are at it again. And fair warning, this one could raise your blood pressure. There's shocking new developments in their major investigation, "Down the Drain."

Almost a year ago , the Target 12 Investigators launched an investigation into the Providence Department of Public Works , where the now infamous video of a city backhoe, with an on the clock city worker, doing work on a foreman's house.

In the wake of that story, the two men at the heart of the investigation were fired. But the Target 12 Investigators have learned, now a year later, they are back on the job and collecting a city paycheck. Target 12 also shot undercover video of the men back at work.

So, the big question is, are they in the same positions as before?

"One of them is, a heavy equipment operator with the DPW. The other was moved to the park's department. This despite promises from Mayor David Cicilline that they would never work for the city again," said Target 12 Investigator Tim White.

Target 12 gets to the bottom of what happened in Monday night's report. They sit down with the city and the union that fought to get them back on the job.

"You may be surprised, or outraged to learn one of the reasons, according to an arbitrator, was the city dropped the ball, legally speaking. We'll let you in on how that happened," added Tim.

The Target 12 Investigators bring you "Down the Drain" Monday night at 11 p.m. on Eyewitness News and on FOX Providence at 10 p.m.
