EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (FOX Providence) - Do really know what's in your makeup? We often hear about findings that what's in our makeup products are harmful to our health, and that's what Ava Anderson discovered when she started using cosmetics.
Instead of ignoring the problem, she found a solution. Ava joined The Rhode Show to discuss how she came up with the idea.
"I saw a FOX news segment with my mom, it was talking about the toxicity of personal care products. And what they did, they focused on teenagers, and they tested for no hormone destructors, known toxicity and every single teen tested positive for every single ingredient and that scared me," said Ava.
Ava says she spent an entire school year searching for alternative products, but couldn't find any. Ava soon realized there wasn't any safe products out there, and wanted to do something about it.
"I thought I'd start off on a smaller scale, but it's gotten pretty big now," said the Barrington teenager.
Right now, Ava's line features skin care products that are manufactured in New York. The product line offers toner, cleansers, exfoliators, moisturizers, eye makeup remover pads and lip scrub.
