PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Twenty local soldiers from the 888th Movement Control Team were honored on Saturday at the Community College of Rhode Island in a special farewell ceremony.
This event was a chance for the team to say final goodbyes to family and friends.
The team is being deployed to Afghanistan to move units, cargo and personnel throughout Afghanistan.
For some of the team its there first deployment overseas and say it will be hard to be away from home.
The majority of the troops leave on Monday. The will head to Fort Hood Texas, before flying off to Afghanistan.
