LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. (CNN/KLTA) - Police say a teacher in the Los Angeles area was behind the wheel of this black truck, leading officers on a high speed chase Tuesday.

Officials say the teacher was suspected of sexual activity with a minor and when they went to talk to him, he took off.

The chase came to a brief stop in Torrance when an officer hit the truck, spinning it around and sending it into the side of a big rig.

But after a moment, the suspect took off again.

A few minutes later, the teacher drove off the roadway, plunging down an embankment and landing in a tree.

Rescue crews got the man out alive, and he was taken to the hospital.
