R.I. (WPRI) – There are Rhode Island residents who are stuck inside their homes because they cannot shovel this deep, heavy snow, and there’s a way you can help.
WPRI/Fox Providence has teamed up with United Way 211 and Serve Rhode Island to help dig Rhode Islanders out of the aftermath of the 2013 blizzard.
Volunteers are needed to help with shovels, snow blowers, and plows to clear snow from walkways and driveways for the elderly, shut-ins and disabled people.

*UPDATE: Snow removal volunteering recruitment for this storm has ended. "The response was overwhelming as 106 volunteers came forward, and collectively helped a total of 74 elderly and disabled residents dig out," Bernie Beaudreau, Executive Director of Serve Rhode Island, said on Thursday, as he was also quoted thanking WPRI 12 & FOX Providence for a "great partnership effort."
