PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- With the mix of snow and Monday’s rain already on the ground, it is important that residents and business owners take the extra step of clearing not only driveways but also storm drains.
The owner of the Winkler Store Fixture Company is frustrated by the snow the plows did not take away. The only drain located near his company was hidden under a two foot pile of icy snow.
“I’m stuck with it. You call and no one does anything about it,” said the store owner.
A few blocks away there were more iced over drains which building owners decided to plow themselves.
“I wasn’t surprised because I figured the city is broke,” said resident Horatio Lertora.
Business owners and residents across the capital city are worried about their basements and buildings now that the snow is beginning to melt.
Eyewitness News contacted a spokesperson from the city of Providence but did not receive any information or a returned phone call.
