(WPRI) - Protecting your home from the bitter cold is also important, especially when it comes to water pipes.

Pipes, especially in outside walls, are at higher risk for freezing. Plumbers recommend putting a low-watt lamp under your kitchen sink to warm pipes up.

They also say its a good idea to to turn on a trickle of water at night, including showers, tubs and bathroom sinks.
