WESTERLY R.I. (WPRI) – Kids in Westerly who have been surrounded by destruction in the wake of hurricane Sandy had smiles on their faces Saturday night as they were finally able to celebrate their Halloween.

The town along with nearby South Kingstown postponed trick or treating due to safety issues from the storm damage.

The Halloween stroll sponsored by the Westerly Substance Abuse Task force and the Downtown Business Associate was also postponed till Saturday.

Parents told Eyewitness news it was a nice way to have a safe Halloween for their children.
