WESTERLY, R.I. (WPRI) – Even though it has been over 2 weeks since Hurricane Sandy tore through the Ocean State, coastal communities are still picking up the pieces.
In Misquamicut, clean-up crews continued to haul away debris from beach front properties. One pile of sand measured several stories high, but crews believe that is a sign of progress.
According to the Westerly Sun, the town hired 3 different companies to help clear out the area in the aftermath of the storm. One of those companies came from as far away as Louisiana.
In the meantime, business owners were thankful for the recent nice weather. With the weather behaving, most are hoping to re-open this spring.
