PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP)-- Rhode Island is receiving $15 million in federal money to help repair roads damaged by Superstorm Sandy.

The members of the state's congressional delegation on Tuesday said the money will go to the state Department of Transportation.

The state received $3 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation just after the October storm to help repair roads and other infrastructure that was damaged.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says around 1,000 claims have been submitted in Rhode Island, and it has paid out nearly $15 million.

The deadline for Rhode Islanders to register for assistance from FEMA is Wednesday.
