NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) - Since the storm hit Monday, a number of people have stopped by The Coast Guard House to see the damage.
Onlookers aren't the only ones touring the waterfront property. More police cars have been patrolling the area surrounding the badly damaged restaurant.
Just days after the superstorm called Sandy, what remains is a flooded first floor and a seaside building in need of extensive repairs.
A lot of water and damaged tables and chairs now litter the dining room.
There have been multiple reports of looting, but police have not confirmed if that is the reason for their increased presence.
Meanwhile, the owners of The Coast Guard House said their business is not a total loss and they're already started to fix it.
"We have a mess to clean up, that's for sure. Nobody was injured, that's the most important thing, everything else can be replaced, fixed," said Bob Leonard, co-owner of The Coast Guard House.
Judge Frank Caprio, also co-owner, couldn't agree more.
"We will be open, I guess with in two and a half months, maybe sooner. We'll be better than we ever were."
Congressman Jim Langevin was among those who stopped by to see the destruction. He recalled years of memories at the historic restaurant.
