BLOCK ISLAND, R.I. (WPRI) - As the sun rose over Block Island Saturday, residents found little damage from downgraded Tropical Storm Earl overnight.
The storm weakened and turned slightly farther out to sea leaving most of Rhode Island with wind, rain, and waves, but not much else.
The Block Island Ferry will be back running on Saturday after canceling all ferries after 8:15 A.M. on Friday
State officials continue to monitor the ocean and the strong rip currents that Earl has left behind.
Rip currents will be dangerous throughout the day, and many of the beaches may be closed because of the rough surf.
DEM officials will also be examining beaches for erosions throughout Saturday.
Some beaches have also been closed by the Health Department due to the possibility of high bacteria levels because of the rain.
