PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A Target 12 Investigators exclusive "Up in Smoke."
Only Target 12 was there last Friday when a raid went down at the Providence Postal Facility. Four men, including three postal workers were arrested for drug possession.
The police were following up on a tip that these workers were getting high on the clock. Now, only the Target 12 Investigators have undercover video you will see nowhere else.
The undercover video was shot by the Target 12 Investigators last month. We began this investigation based on an anonymous tip that postal employees were getting high during a break, then heading back to work.
Only the Target 12 Investigators where there as federal agents and state police swooped in on the employee parking lot at the Postal Annex in Providence, four men were taken into custody, all charged with possession of drugs.
Lieutenant John Flaherty of the Rhode Island State Police tells Target 12, "Three of the individuals charged today are employees of the U.S. Postal Service."
The investigation began with a tip to the Target 12 Investigators that was followed up by state police and special agents from the Office of the Inspector General.
The concern by law enforcement was that postal employees were working under the influence of drugs, putting co-workers and the public at risk.
Weeks before the raid, Target 12 went undercover. We have the exclusive video that you have to see to believe; allegations of drug use on federal property and on the clock. Law enforcement tells us their surveillance led to last week's raid.
All four men pleaded not guilty and were released. Tonight, we'll bring you the exclusive undercover video taken at the postal facility. We'll reveal our complete investigation including that video from days of surveillance.
Tonight's undercover investigation, "Up in Smoke" airs tonight on Eyewitness News at 11:00, on WPRI-12.
