EAST GREENWICH, RI (WPRI) - A father and daughter have come forward to Rhode Island State Police, saying they are the two who gave CPR to a 23-year-old pregnant woman at an September 28 crash scene.
Sullynette Sanchez later died at Kent Hospital but investigators say the CPR may have kept her alive long enough to save her baby who was delivered by doctors at Women and Infants Hospital. The condition of the baby has not been released by the hospital.
Captain Frank Castellone of the Rhode Island State Police confirmed for Target 12 that the father called him Thursday night. The man and his daughter will now be interviewed by detectives.
“If they were there that quick, before first responders,” State Police Captain Frank Castellone said. “We would be interested in interviewing them to see if they witnessed anything prior to witnessing the crash."
Castellone told Target 12 that a third eyewitness who was at the scene on Route 4, near Frenchtown Road, told State Police about the man and a woman.
“Apparently they were assisting with CPR to the victim,” Castellone said.
Meanwhile, the State Police accident reconstruction team is close to completing their part of the investigation. The vehicle that rear ended Sanchez’s vehicle, is equipped with an on-board computer and detectives obtained a search warrant to analyze the data on that computer.
“They could possibly obtain speed and whether or not the vehicle was braking or accelerating at the time of the crash,” Castellone said.
