PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The next set of balance sheets and income statements from Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios is due to be given to the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation by the end of this month. But it is fuzzy when it comes to who is privy to the numbers.

“All I can say is they (as in the balance sheets and income statements) are submitted to the Rhode Island EDC every month,” EDC spokeswoman Judy Chong said.

She would not elaborate or tell Target 12 whether board members see the documents. Chong said the Providence company has met its requirements to submit the paperwork since the $75 million loan guarantee was granted .

Governor Lincoln Chafee would not say whether he has seen the documents submitted to the EDC.

Meanwhile, although the one time talkative retired pitcher is not commenting to reporters, he did ‘tweet’ some rosy numbers regarding Kingdoms of Amalur, Reckoning, created by Big Huge Games, the Maryland company owned by 38 Studios.

“Reckoning, 38 Studios first game, has outperformed EA's projections by selling 1.2mm copies in its first 90 days,” the tweet on Schilling’s ‘gehrig38 Twitter account read.

The game retails for about $50. Target 12 went to gaming expert Alexander Sliwinski , who is the news editor for the website Joystiq, to find out how much 38 studios might have netted.

“It's different for every game,” Sliwinski said. “There's no standard. It all depends on what deal you make.”

Before the layoffs, a message was posted on 38 Studios’ Kingdom of Amalur forum.

“38 isn't dead yet,” the brief statement read.

The gaming company's collateral against the loan guarantee is its intellectual property which would include the project that was being worked on in Providence. A gaming industry expert estimated the value of the game that is code named Copernicus, is about $20 million.
