Raymond "Scarface" Jenkins sentenced

Mob associate gets 3 years and 1 month in prison

PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) - Raymond "Scarface" Jenkins was sentenced Friday in Federal Court to 3 years and 1 month in prison for his role in a plot to shake down a used car salesman for $25,000.

Jenkins, 48, plead guilty to extortion conspiracy and admitted to being a mob associate, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors say that used car salesman owed a debt to a third party, and asked for Jenkins for help.

Jenkins agreed to help the salesman, who later said he was unable to come up with the money he previously promised.

The salesman borrowed the money after defrauding his employer.

His lender then wanted the money back, leading the salesman to believe his employer would find out about him defrauding them.

Fellow mob associate Albino Folcarelli later intervened, trying to intimidate the salesman who then paid Jenkins $20,000 from his wife's retirement account.

He also paid a different man $5,000.

Folcarelli has also plead guilty to extortion conspiracy charges and is scheduled to be sentenced in July.
