PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The Target 12 Investigators discover massive stadium lights falling without warning on ball fields nationwide.
The government has issued an immediate recall of certain stadium lights after a series of accidents. It's a rite of passage; young athletes playing under the lights, and spectators watching the game, no one aware of a potential danger lurking.
The Target 12 Investigators are here to tell you what that danger is and what's being done to protect you.
The steel lights, weighing thousands of pounds, come crashing to the ground. Some lights landing on bleachers where spectators had just left hours before. Another came crashing thru a gymnasium roof.
What about going forward at your son's little league game, or at a football game in your town? The Target 12 Investigators went looking for answers. The Consumer Product Safety Commission just recalled these potentially dangerous poles. Now, they want to get the word out about which poles are defective and what to do about it if they're in your town.
After weeks of digging, we found some of these recalled poles right here in our area.
Tuesday night we'll tell you what's being done to make sure kids are safe and how your town can tell if these dangerous poles are lighting up your child's field.
Be sure to catch the Target 12 investigation, "Friday Night Lights" Tuesday night on Fox Providence at 10:00pm and on WPRI-12 at 11:00pm.
