PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A follow-up to a Target 12 Investigators Exclusive probing pensions." Now more than ever it's critical to see how your tax dollars are being spent.

Target 12 told you how the city of Providence is paying out 26 million dollars a year to retirees collecting an accidental disability pension. There are 605 retirees get that tax-free pay-out. Now, a push is on to change the system. 

But as the Target 12 Investigators uncover those checks and balances, don't come cheap. Last year, taxpayers dumped 55 million dollars into the Providence pension system to keep it afloat.

This number has been rising every year. And as we uncover there are other public costs to this expensive program.
