EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - New information in "Operation Mobbed Up," the state police sting that netted two dozen arrests, some with mob ties, also led to a high-profile dig for human remains.
Wednesday, investigators say they may have found the body of Joseph "Joe Onions" Scanlon, who was killed in a 1978 gangland slaying.
Information on the location given to investigators by one of the men picked up in the sting.
Now Target 12 has obtained court documents that reveal the
inner-working of this mob investigation.
Including wire-tapped conversations.
Of the 2 dozen people arrested in operation "mobbed up," Most were charged with drug offenses.
But they also busted several with mob ties, for staging car accidents, and cashing in on phony insurance claims.
State police also served a search warrant at the Valley Street Flea Market.
Nicholas Pari was also picked up in the sting. Target 12 has learned he is the one that directed authorities to, what could be, Joseph Scanlon's body.
