PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Lloyd Morse, owner of the Valley St. Flea Market in Providence, is one of the people arrested Monday in connection with a major organized crime investigation.
State Police said Morse helped reputed mob associate Nicholas "Nicky" Pari run an illegal operation out of the flea market, in which mobsters associates would exchange counterfeit purses and shoes for guns and drugs.
It is not the first time Morse has been in the news. In 2004, he was involved in a battle with the City of Cranston, over an inflatable gorilla he used to drum up publicity for his flea market.
That zoning battle then led him to launch an unsucessful bid for mayor against Republican Stephen Laffey.
