List of associates made public in a court filing

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Federal prosecutors want mob associate Anthony St. Laurent Jr. tossed in prison if he associates with certain notorious Rhode Island wiseguys.

The list, made public in a court filing on Thursday, includes such players as outgoing mob boss Luigi “Baby Shacks” Manocchio and new crime family underboss Robert “Bobby” DeLuca.

St. Laurent, Jr. , who is facing federal extortion charges, was released after a hearing last week, but is on electronic monitoring. But now prosecutors want St. Laurent Jr. detained if he is caught with certain underworld players.

Last week St. Laurent Jr., his father -- reputed mafia captain Anthony “The Saint” St. Laurent -- and mother, Dorothy, were charged by the feds in an extortion scheme. Investigators say the family trio shook Taunton, Massachusetts bookmakers down for protection money from 1988 to 2009.

In court last week, federal prosecutor Scott Lawson asked Magistrate Judge Lincoln Almond to ban St. Laurent Jr., from associating with all felons.

Magistrate Almond wouldn’t sign off, instead asking Lawson to submit a list of specific people the government wanted to ban.

Along with Manocchio and DeLuca, the motion lists the following:

  • Former New England mob boss Raymond “Junior” Patriarca,
  • Reputed mafia capo regime Edward “Eddie” Lato,
  • Notorious mob tough guy Frank “Bobo” Marrapese, who was released from state prison in 2008 after serving time for a murder rap,
  • Longtime Rhode Island mobster Alfred “Chippy” Scivola,
  • Edward “Buckles” Melise who is facing federal charges for allegedly trying to sell large amounts of OxyContin.

The most ironic entry is DeLuca, who according to investigators, was the target of an attempted gangland slaying by Anthony St. Laurent Sr. “The Saint” is faces murder-for-hire charges in connection with the failed attempt.

DeLuca’s attorney Artin Coloian said he was “befuddled” by the motion.

“I don’t pretend to know what the government is thinking as it pertains to my client,” Coloian said.

U.S. Attorney spokesman Tom Connell would not comment if these were common characters in St. Laurent Jr.’s life. But law enforcement sources tell Target 12 prosecutors wouldn’t ask a judge to ban the meetings if there wasn’t already a history.

In November, the Target 12 Investigators captured undercover video of St. Laurent Jr. and Manocchio meeting on Federal Hill.

Sources tell Target 12 Manocchio is stepping down as boss , making way for a transition to Boston’s Peter Limone to take the reigns of the Patriarca Crime Family.
