List of seven wiseguys forbidden

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A federal judge ordered the son of a reputed mob captain to steer clear of seven individuals identified by investigators as mobsters or associates.

In a hearing Monday morning before Magistrate Judge Lincoln Almond, Anthony St. Laurent Jr. was told he would face a detention hearing if he was caught spending time with such players as outgoing mob boss Luigi “Baby Shacks” Manocchio and crime family underboss Robert “Bobby” DeLuca.

Earlier this month, St. Laurent Jr. along with his father, reputed mafia captain Anthony “The Saint” St. Laurent, and mother Dorothy, were charged by the feds in an extortion scheme. Investigators say the family trio shook down Taunton, Massachusetts bookmakers for protection money from 1988 to 2009.

St. Laurent Jr. was released after his arrest, but is on an electronic monitoring bracelet. During Monday’s hearing, federal prosecutor Scott Lawson wanted to prevent meetings like one he said happened last week.

“He was seen having lunch with one of the individuals on the list,” Lawson said in court.

Prosecutors did not say who that person was. However, law enforcement sources told Target 12 Rhode Island State Police detectives spotted St. Laurent Jr. eating lunch with infamous mobster Frank “Bobo” Marrapese.

Future meetings with Marrapese probably won’t be much of a problem. He is back in prison after authorities arrested him last week for unauthorized contact with known felons.

Marrapese is on parole for life following a 25-year prison term for the 1975 gangland slaying of Richard “Dickie” Callei at the Acorn Social club on Federal Hill.

Also on the ‘forbidden list’ for St. Laurent Jr.:

Defense attorney Victor Beretta wanted to make sure third party members aren’t forbidden, referencing a longtime friendship with Melise’s daughter.

“You seem like a very intelligent individual,” Judge Almond said to St. Laurent Jr. “You can figure out where the line is drawn here.”
