BOSTON (AP) - The New York Mets have traded reliever Billy Wagner to the Boston Red Sox.

The Mets got two players to be named from the AL wild-card leaders on Tuesday.

The 38-year-old Wagner has pitched two scoreless innings since recently returning from major surgery on his left elbow. The injury had threatened to sideline him for the entire season.

Wagner ranks sixth all-time with 385 career saves. He joins a bullpen led by closer Jonathan Papelbon.
