P-Bruins beat Worcester 3-2

(WPRI) - The Providence Bruins fell in overtime to the Worcester Sharks 3-2 Friday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

The P-Bruins got goals from Jeff LoVecchio and Andy Wozniewski. The P-Bruins next home game is Sunday, November 1 at 4:05 p.m. for a Family Game against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The Sharks took a 1-0 lead at the 18:01 mark of the opening period. Danny Groulx tallied his first goal of the season, while Logan Couture and Dwight Helminen recorded the assists. Worcester led 1-0 after the first period.

The P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 14:14 mark of the second period, while shorthanded. LoVecchio stole the puck and scored on a breakaway, his third goal of the season. Providence took its first lead of the game at the 19:32 mark. Mikko Lehtonen worked the puck out of the zone to Zach Hamill in the neutral zone. He found Wozniewski along the board. Wozniewski tossed the puck towards the goal and it found its way to the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season. The P-Bruins led 2-1 after the second period.

Worcester tied the game at two at the 7:42 mark of the third period. T.J. Trevelyan netted his third goal of the season, while Steven Zalewski picked up the lone assist. The game went into overtime tied at two.

In overtime Worcester's Jamie McGinn scored at the 1:58 mark, his third goal of the season. Groulx and Joe Callahan had the assists as the Sharks went onto the 3-2 victory.

Matt Dalton stopped 33 of 36 shots for the P-Bruins, while Alex Stalock made 27 saves for the Sharks. The P-Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.

The P-Bruins wrap up the weekend Saturday, October 24 against the Manchester Monarchs at the Verizon Wireless Arena at 7:00 p.m.
