(WPRI) - The Providence Bruins fell to the Manchester Monarchs 2-1 Saturday evening at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The P-Bruins got their goal from Colby Cohen.
The Monarchs took a 1-0 lead at the 11:23 mark of the opening period. Marc-Andre Cliche tallied his 11th goal of the season, while Thomas Hickey and Patrick Mullen recorded the assists.
Manchester made it 2-0 at the 18:04 mark. Dwight King netted his eighth goal of the season, while Brandon Kozun and Mullen picked up the assists. Manchester led 2-0 going into the first intermission.
After a scoreless second period, the P-Bruins pulled within a goal at the 8:24 mark of the third period, while on the power play. Josh Hennessy had the puck halfway down the boards and sent it to the right point for Matt Bartkowski. He passed it to Cohen at the left point who shot the puck towards the net where it went off the post and in for his first goal of the season. The P-Bruins were unable to pull any closer and fell 2-1.
Anton Khudobin stopped 27 of 29 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jeff Zatkoff made 25 saves for the Monarchs. The P-Bruins were 1-for-3 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
