(WPRI) - The Providence Bruins fell to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-2 this evening at Webster Bank Arena. Calle Ridderwall and Craig Cunningham scored for Providence.

After falling to the Sound Tigers in a heartbreaking shootout decision last Sunday, the P-Bruins came into Webster Bank Arena looking for revenge.

Rookie Cunningham got Providence on the board first at 10:14, notching his seventh goal of the season off helpers from Matt Bartkowski and Kyle MacKinnon. The lead wouldn't last long as the Sound Tigers bit back six minutes later to tie the game and send the teams into the first intermission tied 1-1.

The teams opened the second period eager to take a lead as they exchanged scoring opportunities. At 7:35 David Ullstrom scored his 14th goal of the season, a team-high, to give the Sound Tigers the go-ahead goal and 2-1 lead.

Undeterred, the P-Bruins continued to throw shots at the Sound Tigers' Anders Nilsson, but solid play from the net minder kept Providence off the board and trailing 2-1 heading into the final frame.

Providence came into the third period hungry for a goal and the win. Despite a few solid offensive plays, the P-Bruins couldn't connect in front to find the back of the net. Instead, Bridgeport took a 3-1 lead at 17:34 of the third period.

Not ready to throw the towel in, Providence's offense went into overdrive and rookie Ridderwall tallied his sixth goal of the year to bring the P-Bruins within one just 20 seconds after Bridgeport's third goal. However, the effort proved too little too late as the Sound Tigers held on for the 3-2 win.

Anton Khudobin suffered the loss, stopping 28 Bridgeport shots, while Nilsson made 31 saves on 33 of Providence's attempts.
