P-Bruins beat Falcons 4-3

(WPRI) - The Providence Bruins extended their point streak to four games as they defeated the Springfield Falcons 4-3 this evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins had goals from Carter Camper, Jordan Caron and two goals from Jamie Arniel.

Both sitting at the bottom of their respective divisions, the Providence Bruins and Springfield Falcons came out of the locker rooms eager to gain much needed points.

However, the P-Bruins, coming off a three-point streak, struck first at 6:28. Arniel, who has struggled to match his career best numbers from last season, was fed a pass from Camper below the Falcons' goal line. Coming out of the corner, Arniel dangled Springfield's flat-footed defense and beat Manny Legace low on his blocker side for his third goal of the season.

The P-Bruins continued to ride the momentum of Arniel's goal, pummeling Legace with shots. The momentum paid off at 14:18 when Camper split the two Springfield defenders and went in 1-on-1, easily beating Legace five-hole for an unassisted goal.

Solid play between the pipes from Anton Khudobin kept the Falcons off the board and sent the P-Bruins into the locker room leading 2-0.

The P-Bruins came out of the locker rooms for the second period hungry for another goal. The P-Bruins were given a power play opportunity and the P-Bruins didn't waste any time capitalizing on the man-advantage. Through traffic in front of Legace, Caron was able to find David Warsofsky's shot and deflected a beauty past Legace at 5:49 to give the P-Bruins a 3-0 lead. Camper also assisted on the play, his third point of the night.

The Falcons answered five minutes later when the puck took a lucky bounce past Khudobin, cutting the deficit to two goals. However, the P-Bruins quickly shut down any momentum the Falcons may have gained from Theo Ruth's goal.

The trio of Arniel, Camper and Yannick Riendeau continued to be hot as they found the back of the net for the second time of the game. Low in the far corner, Camper found Arniel, who camped in the front of the net, easily beat Legace with a one-timer. Riendeau also assisted on the play. The goal was Arniel's second of the night and Camper earned his fourth point of the game. The P-Bruins went into the final intermission with a 4-1 lead on the Falcons.

Despite the three-goal deficit, the Falcons weren't going to rollover in the final period. Andrew Joudrey brought Springfield within two halfway through the frame and Nick Drazenovic added another at 17:29 to bring the Falcons within one. The Falcons continued to throw shots at the net, but Khudobin was solid behind the pipes and made multiple acrobatic saves to secure the 4-3 win.

Khudobin's 26 saves earned him the win, while Legace came up short with 15 saves, suffering the loss.
The P-Bruins are on break for the AHL All-Star Classic next weekend. Rookie Carter Camper will represent the team at the game to be held in Atlantic City, NJ.
