Yankees need walkoff to salvage Game 3 over PawSox

(WPRI) - Melky Mesa homered with two outs in the ninth to deliver the Yankees a 4-3 last second reprieve against Pawtucket at Frontier Field on Friday night.

Pedro Beato allowed the game winner. Tony Pena surrendered 2 runs on 2 hits in a third of an inning to start the ninth.

The PawSox jumped out to a 2-0 lead on back to back homers by Bryce Brentz and Mike Rivera. J. C Linares brought in the third run. Billy Buckner turned in another great effort. Six and a third innings, one hit and no runs.

Game 4 of the Governors' Cup Playoffs continues Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The PawSox lead the series two games to one.
