(WPRI) - Travis Denker doubled into the gap in right centerfield in the bottom of the fourteenth inning, scoring Mark Wagner and pushing the PawSox to a 6-5 victory over Syracuse.

The four hour and fifty four minute marathon was the longest game since August 19, 2002 when the Sox and Rochester played for 4:57 at Frontier Field. That was a 9-8, 15 inning victory.

Chris Carter knocked in two runs with a sacrifice fly and a solo home run. The homer tied it at 5-5 in the sixth inning. No one would score again until Denker provided his heroics just before midnight.

The PawSox bullpen of Jose Vaquedano, Javier Lopez, Marcus McBeth, Fernando Cabrera, Hunter Jones and Billy Traber combined to give up no earned runs over the final 9 and a third innings. Traber (5-3) was the winner.

The series concludes on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Enrique Gonzalez (7-6, 5.46) faces Marco Estrada (4-2, 4.50).
