(WPRI) - It wasn't quite the epic comeback of Friday night, but nonetheless, the PawSox rallied for a 4-3 win on Saturday in Durham.
After falling behind 3-1 in the third, the Sox scored three times in the fifth inning. Carlos Maldonado ripped a 2 run single and Travis Denker followed with an rbi hit.
Earlier in the game, Jeff Natale got the PawSox on the board with an RBI double. Maldonado had an impact defensively, as well. The burly catcher threw out a pair of would-be base stealers.
Enrique Gonzalez earned his first win since May 12. Gonzalez (6-6) worked five and a third innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits. Gonzo struck out 8 hitters. Gonzalez surrendered a 2 run homer to Jon Weber, the fourteenth he's given up in 2009, most in the International League.
The PawSox now trail Durham by one game in the wild card chase. Pawtucket (36-31) is 5 and a half behind idle Scranton in the North.
The series continues on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. Lefty James Houser (3-3, 5.54) faces Kris Johnson (2-6, 6.56) Shortstop Jed Lowrie is expected to be in the lineup as he begins his rehab assignment.
