(WPRI) - Charlie Zink gave up 4 earned runs in the first three innings on Sunday and the sleepy PawSox offense was unable to overcome the deficit, falling to Syracuse 6-2.
The Chiefs scored 2 in the first, another in the second and one more in the third to take a 4-0 lead. Former Major leaguer Corey Patterson had a pair of RBI singles.
The PawSox got on the board in the fifth as Freddy Guzman drove home a run with one of his three hits, a double. In the seventh Jeff Natale knocked in the other Pawtucket run with one of his 2 hits. Dusty Brown added 3 hits for the PawSox (40-35).
The series continues on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Michael Bowden (3-4, 3.11) faces lefty Scott Olsen (1-0, 5.68).
